Final Month

1 min read
If you like take this next month, for however long it's 2023 somewhere, to make any last requests or commissions from me. If no one wants anything I'll finish one more Helena picture and finish some abandoned WIPs, but if people do I'll leave it open until the New Year rolls over and spend whatever time it takes to get through it. I do reserve the right to turn it down if it bothers me too much. I will keep the gallery up, though I can't promise anything about dA itself. I figure I'll be back someday, but I'll be doing something else. Either this will shift to a fanart account or else I'll be doing something that's not drawing. (not prompting, not that.)

Well, Admin nuked about every Vanessa commission ever and then a few more.

Weird idea I had while coloring the ongoing thing: Vanessa 'borrows' money from the mob intending to never pay it back so they send dudes after her. Things get morbid.

Well, it was neat watching your art Mr. Caris. First piece I ever recall from you was a long haired lady who flexed her muscles out against something.

I can't recall which piece it was, but was great. While I haven't been a fan of every piece of you've made, but that hasn't deterred me to remain a watcher. I'm going to remain a watcher still. One of my favourite characters from you is Ariana. If you do end up returning one day, I hope you draw more art of her.

How do you design your drawings?

hmm, how do you mean?

I mean, the way you paint.

What app? ( drawing app ) tell me in chat ?

Clip Studio Paint these days, though a lot of the older pictures are going to be Paint Tool Sai.

I've been trying to experiment so very few recent pictures have the exact same approach, but I use the 'clip to layer below' function a lot lately, you can lay down the colors the want and then make a new layer and clip it to the bottom layer and then you can't smudge the color outlines because it won't affect the area outside of the pixels on the bottom layer. That can also be used to color the lines by making a layer over the lineart and clipping it to the lineart layer. I usually use multiply for shadows, sometimes several layers if I want to make some extra dark. One combination I've tried lately is a Hard Light layer for primary light source shines and Soft Light layer for the areas lightened by reflection. Screen for shiny materials like hair and metal.

I'm weird and mostly do line art with physical pens and scan the drawing, which is kind of an old fashioned/out of date way of doing things at this point so I don't have a lot of pointers to make on how to make line art in the program.
