Watching cartoons as an older person

I have to admit most of them make me go "Ugh, did I inflict things this bad on my mom?" or just "Why?" but there's still some good ones. Admittedly most of the cartoons I watch now are of the foreign variety, but it's interesting to see how anime's influenced western cartoons in something of a feedback loop.
I've heard a bit about Steven Universe here and there for a few years now and got around to checking it out. It's kind of interesting to see the diversity in body types including the burly gems. Hopefully it speaks to the idea that women with muscles and strength are accepted enough to be unoffensive to the mainstream. - I remember when I first started drawing and I wanted to do a range of types and people would freak the hell out at even subtle musculature...  I find it kind of funny that people would accept my old shitty drawings of muscled women as women but whenever I tried to add any level of body fat they'd insist I hadn't drawn a girl... I kind of ended up letting myself getting pushed into 'cartoon women only have one body type' until I made this account to stick pervier and muscular drawings up.
Overall the episodes about the Gem's story line are better than the other kinds - the whole 'artificially created aliens fight a civil war over earth' reminds me just a bit of Transformers in a weird way.
Anyway, I don't think I'd do anything with the Gem characters that's appropriate for here as that's a kid's show and I do believe in letting kids have their space. Though, if I were to - going on how much I like their looks/design - it'd probably either be Lapis Lazuli or Rainbow Quartz (Yeah, she's onscreen for all of five seconds, but she made an impression)

Some stuff's just adorable too, I like season 3's evil squad of Rubies "They're so tiny and so angry, and so dumb!"
Hulu only has three seasons of it though, and I hear there's five... I'm not sure if I'll look for them elsewhere or not though.
